Job Digital Lab Stories: Learning about Modern Web Language with Daniele Di Gregoli
“Technology has become the centre of many successful business strategies. Devices and technology, if well exploited, allow companies to break down the boundaries between the on-line and the off-line to create unique, custom-tailored and engaging experiences." Daniele Di Gregoli, web marketing strategist at IM*MEDIA, presented his story on April 20 in Palermo, at the event on Technologies 4.0 and Digital Strategies to Develop Your Business, as part of the Job Digital Lab – Training to Get Back in Action programme.
Here is the story, presented with the help of Nicoletta Vulpetti, who is really passionate about identity stories. And we continue to enrich the third edition of programme, conceived with ING Italia, with the stories of individuals who are the protagonists of personal and community change.
It all started in 2001 when I chose to attend the "Modern Languages for the Web" degree programme at the University of Palermo. It was one of the first experimental courses that included the teaching of foreign languages, communications, and basic web techniques.
This is how I began to get passionate about digital tools, communications, and marketing. I graduated with a thesis on marketing and search engines. My first digital job was as a junior SEO specialist in a small agency in Palermo. My professional turning point came in 2012 when I started working for IM*MEDIA, a journey that has lasted for over 10 years and which has allowed me to grow as a person and as a professional.
At the agency, I have experienced everything: programming, copywriting, SEO optimization, advertising campaign management, data analysis and many other activities that have enriched my knowledge.
I now coordinate the agency's Web Marketing Business Unit, a team of professionals that helps companies grow and achieve their business goals with a specific focus on digital advertising, SEO, marketing automation, and web analytics.
I am part of the generation that grew up between analogue and digital tools. I fully experienced the change and technological evolution. Although I love analogue experiences such as mountain walks, the digital is an integral part of my life. It has allowed me to travel, to see new places, meet new people, and develop my creativity and my passions. I'm a technology enthusiast: computers, smartphones, video games, wearables. I have a rich collection of "old-fashioned" technological gadgets that I am particularly fond of, including: a Commodore 16, the first Gameboy, a Polaroid, an Atari 2600, and a Walkman.
Today we are all hyperconnected. All our actions, even the simplest, are mediated by technological devices. Technology has changed our lives, every aspect of our day is influenced by technology: work, education, social relationships, and leisure. We have access to all the resources we want, watch any TV series, speak to relatives and friends on the other side of the world, work from the comfort of our homes, or buy our favourite shoes directly from our smartphones.
The last few years, following the pandemic, have accelerated the evolution and adoption of digital tools. The e-commerce phenomenon has exploded, prompting many companies to evolve to adapt to change.
Technology has become the pivot of many successful business strategies. Devices and technology, if well exploited, allow companies to break down the boundaries between the on-line and the off-line to create unique, custom-tailored and engaging experiences.
