Paths of Social, Professional, and Housing Empowerment for Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the Municipality of Rome
Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Federazione delle Chiese Evangeliche (lead partner), ActionAid International Italia, and Fondazione Adecco per le Pari Opportunità have formed an alliance for a two-year territorial project (2024-2025) aimed at asylum seekers and holders of international protection residing or domiciled in Rome, to support them in paths of social, work, and housing inclusion through the development of strategic skills.
OBJECTIVES
- Accompanying housing autonomy through alternative housing solutions (co-housing, light social housing, temporary residence)
- Strengthening transversal and active job search skills
- Strengthening technical-professional skills
- Promoting paths of knowledge and integration between beneficiaries and host communities
- Increasing the empowerment and employability of participants
PHASES AND ACTIVITIES
The project aims to develop paths of social, professional, and housing empowerment for asylum seekers and holders of international protection exiting the reception system or who have already started their activation path towards a phase of semi-autonomy. Participants are accompanied in paths of social and professional empowerment, training, and accompaniment to the world of work, facilitated by participatory co-design paths and group creation.
- The project develops in the following phases and activities:
- Interception and identification of participants: dissemination, communication, and awareness.
- Participatory co-design and group creation: community development meetings (reflection/action path and urban explorations path) and contest and workshop for designing initiatives for the local community.
- Empowerment and employability of beneficiaries: individual knowledge and motivational interviews; orientation and work education path; support for active job search; paths for enhancing e-skills and soft skills; professional training paths; diversity and inclusion actions for refugee women and young people.
- Work accompaniment: training internships in companies; inclusive accelerator for self-entrepreneurship.
- Housing support: third-level reception; co-housing solutions; housing intermediation; light social housing.

- Mapping the needs of the recipients
- 3 projects for funded social initiatives
- Competence assessments and individual action plans
- Profiling sheets for soft skills and e-skills and laboratory paths for enhancing these skills
- 1 company awareness format
- 1 inclusive accelerator path for self-entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial projects, training projects
- 20 training internships
- 1 guide to rental rules
NUMBERS
The project aims to involve the following direct recipients: 90 asylum seekers and holders of international protection (men, women, minors, and newly adults) exiting the reception system or who have already started their activation path towards a phase of semi-autonomy.
