At Smart City Expo with the Innovation Gym Model.
Starting yesterday, November 5, Barcelona is hosting the Smart City Expo where the City of Rome is illustrating its version of a sustainable and inclusive smart city and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS is presenting the Innovation Gym Model implemented in Rome’s suburbs.
“Participating in this event is a unique opportunity to show how the eternal city is being transformed into a model of urban innovation based on collaboration amongst public and private entities and citizens to integrate advanced technology and sustainable solutions,” the council declares in a press note. The city is represented by its mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, the Councillor for Productive Activities and Equal Opportunities, Monica Lucarelli, Urban Planning Councillor Maurizio Veloccia, Mobility Councillor Eugenio Patanè, and the President and Vice President of the Statute and Innovation Commission, Riccardo Corbucci and Antonella Melito.
“The 120 square meter stand, conceived to represent the “Future of Rome” blending tradition and innovation, is divided into thematic areas that promote interaction amongst technology, sustainability, and strategic collaboration. The environment was studied to involve visitors and provide an immersive experience thanks to technology such as virtual reality that allows the exploration of the Ara Pacis directly from the fair. The showcase area also includes a central stage, a contemporary interpretation of Augustus’ Ara Pacis, that will host presentations and workshops, and a media area dedicated to the production of digital content such as podcasts.” Yesterday, FMD Director General Mirta Michilli briefly presented the pioneering collaboration with the Rome Council before launching the video of the Smart & Heart Rome experience.
Throughout the event (Nov. 5-7), the most important international appointment in the field of technological innovation applied to smart cities and integrated urban systems, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will be one of the organisations present in the “Rome Participates” area promoting digital inclusion and guaranteeing that smart technology be accessible to everyone. Cinzia Diana, FMD Event Manager is in Barcelona.
