A thirty-hour course on 3D printing, laser cutting, and making.
Training activities begin today for asylum seekers and refugees (adults, minors, and new adults) residing in the Municipality of Rome and with a good knowledge of the Italian language. The activities are part of Project Living the City Efficiently (“8X1000” state funding) with the Federation of Evangelical Churches, ActionAid, and the Fondazione Adecco for Equal Opportunities.
The project aims to develop social, professional and housing empowerment courses for asylum seekers and refugees who are leaving the reception circuit or who have already begun their activation process towards a phase of semi-independence. Participants will participate in courses on social and professional empowerment, training and guidance on the working world. In addition to the professional empowerment courses, participatory co-planning and team-building courses will also be organised. The courses, in which participants will work together with other subjects belonging to the destination community, will increase the bridging social capital of participants (into heterogeneous and therefore highly inclusive social networks), facilitate relationships between residents, and provide knowledge (and a sense of belonging) on their urban destination.
The courses on digital manufacturing last 30 hours and will be held at the fab lab of the Innovation Gym. Ten migrants from different CPIAs, SAI centres and shelters will participate. The coaches are:
- Daniele Vigo – 3D Printing
- Emanuele Coletta – Laser Cutting
- Irene Caretti – Product Presentation
