The Il Sole 24 Ore’s “Alley oop” Blog reports on the event.
The alley oop is a spectacular basketball play in which a player throws the ball into the air, towards the basket, while a teammate jumps up to catch it and dunk or score in a single, fluid, coordinated action. It is a demonstration of synchronization, athletic ability, and connection between players. The action, performed spectacularly and with great precision, is one of the most exciting moments of the game, for both the players and the spectators. The term derives from the French allez-hop! used by circus acrobats before a jump. It was first borrowed from American football to indicate the "Hail Mary pass" and was then used in basketball.
Due to a good intuition by journalist Monica D'Ascenzo, this is the name of the Il Sole 24 Ore blog dedicated to diversity (in a broad sense and not just in terms of gender) and inclusion, which has been going for eight years.
One of the most recent posts describes the great plays at RomeCup 2024, the event against the gender gap and in favour of inclusion, a challenge that is present in all aspects of the multi-event. Here is the article by Eleonora Cipoletta, entitled RomeCup Fights the Digital Gender Gap with Challenges and Games, which reports on the ChatSPOT: AI in Social Advertising and Are You Speaking to Me? When Algorithms Meet Empathy hackathons, as well as the Charter of Rights for Digital Humans [Alley Oop, Il Sole 24 Ore, April 8].
