Roll Cloud and Rome City Council’s Digital Facilitation Centres among the finalists for the National Digital Skills Award
Two projects by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale are among the finalists for the third edition of the National Digital Skills Award, an initiative by Repubblica Digitale, promoted by the Department for Digital Transformation of the Prime Minister’s Office and implemented with the support of Invitalia.
They are Roll Cloud: Working in the Cloud, a finalist in the Digital in Education for Schools category, and the Roma Capitale Digital Facilitation Centres, selected in the Digital Facilitation category. These are two distinct initiatives in terms of their target audiences and methods of delivery, yet they share the common goal of transforming digital skills into tangible opportunities for learning, autonomy and participation.
Learning digital skills through design
Roll Cloud. Working in the Cloud is the programme promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of Opening Future, the joint project by Google Cloud, Intesa Sanpaolo and TIM Enterprise. Aimed at schools, it introduces young people to cloud technologies, artificial intelligence and emerging professions through meetings with experts, career guidance activities and creative challenges. The focus is not merely on acquiring technical knowledge, but on the ability to understand technologies, use them responsibly and devise new solutions. An educational model that bridges the gap between schools and the world of work and promotes creativity, collaboration and transferable skills.
Digital services close to citizens
The Rome City Council’s Digital Facilitation Centres, on the other hand, bring training and support directly to local communities. The network now comprises 45 centres spread across the 15 municipalities, where citizens can receive free assistance in accessing online public services and improve their digital skills.
The initiative forms part of measure 1.7.2 “Network of Digital Facilitation Services” of the PNRR. The Mondo Digitale Foundation, lead partner of the temporary association involved in the co-design and co-management of the service with Roma Capitale, carries out coordination and monitoring activities. Facilitation thus becomes not only a response to an immediate need, but an opportunity to progressively increase digital autonomy, security and participation.
Voting is open until 27 September
For each of the five categories of the Award, a jury has selected three finalist projects. From 9 September until 23.59 on 27 September 2026, members of the public can also cast their votes. The initiatives with the most votes will receive a bonus that will be added to the juries’ assessment when determining the winners. The winners and any special mentions will be announced on 22 October 2026 in Rome, during the Repubblica Digitale National Assembly at the Opificio Italiacamp.
