In Italy, the artificial intelligence market increased significantly in 2023, reaching €570 million and an average estimated growth rate of 28.2% (Anitec-Assinform). The EU Commission called for such a strong growth in its “State of the Digital Decade” Report that estimates that only 5% of Italian companies use artificial intelligence against an average of 8% in the EU27. The objective for 2030 is to achieve 75% of companies. In the business-oriented Province of Bergamo, in the first trimester of 2024, there are over 82,000 businesses operating: services (33,237 or 40.2% of total active enterprises), commerce (17,546, 21.2%), construction (16,756, 20.3%), manufacturing (10,167, 12.3%), and agriculture (4,816, 5.8%).

In order to drive such a diversified economy yesterday’s (July 15) training session, organised by Ital.IA Lab, a project promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Microsoft Italia, was fundamental. The objective is to promote AI as a tool for inclusion and growth for individuals and communities, promoting employment through skilling, reskilling, and upskilling actions, as well as driving the development of technology and its ethical and responsible use. The training session was organised with the Digital Enterprise Point of the Chamber of Commerce of Bergamo, Bergamo Sviluppo, and in collaboration with Dintec, a chamber agency specialised in innovation and digital tools.

The training session focused on GenAI to innovate processes and services, analyse data, and optimise internal and external communications. The event also features a presentation of Copilot and various cases studies, as well as practical exercises to work on the new concepts.
