Presenting the “SMS but Safe” Podcast in collaboration with the European University of Rome
On Tuesday, April 30, a new resource was presented for Project Enjoy the Internet Safely in Milan. The SMS but Safe Podcast for parents and educators was presented in Milan. The podcast, developed in collaboration with the European University of Rome, focuses on the principles of a conscientious use of the Internet and technology in five episodes to provide parents with useful guidance for themselves and their children.
Each episode addresses the risks and opportunities provided by the Internet and shares useful advice to adopt a positive attitude, both on-line and off-line.
The podcast was developed as an educational project as part of the internship in Primary Education Sciences at the European University of Rome. The speakers are not professionals, but educators who are training in the field to respond effectively to the new challenges of media education, as explained by Paolo Aghemo, a primary school teacher and tutor at the European University of Rome, who coordinated the work group. The team includes teachers from Our School Professors.
Silvia Silveri, a teacher at the IC Piero Angela in Rome, contributed to the creation of the first episode: "Use Technology with Common Sense."
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor of Milan Anna Scavuzzo, who also acts as Education Councillor, who particularly appreciated the approach the project because it allows you to "look to the future with optimism." “Digital tools are a part of our lives, and we should enjoy them to the fullest!” she added.
