Maker Faire: The Future Amongst Memories

Amongst the stands in the Pavilions at the Rome Fair

One of the first pieces of news launched by Rai News at the opening of the Maker Faire 2023 (October 20-22) was entitled "Walking in the World that Awaits Us". Walking slowly among the stands, allowing ourselves to be attracted by the most intriguing ideas, we too had this sensation of walking through a stretch of the future, but then suddenly we were also overwhelmed and immersed by memories. We recognized many of the schools that we accompanied years ago in the first innovation processes and now are autonomous and proud to man a stand with fuller prototypes. There are projects that we saw conceived and then developed through the many challenges we launch every year, including creative contests and hackathons. And then there are the universities, with which we are establishing ever tighter collaborations such as, for example, the researchers at the Sapienza DIAG who every year hold fun football competitions with Nao robots at RomeCup. And now they were surrounded by the deafening cheering of the youngest.

We also met so many friends and professionals with whom we have collaborated in the past. While some of them are still at our side, others have undertaken new careers, specializing i the sectors that blossom in the market economy.

It is really enormously satisfying to meet again, with the same sympathy and respect, without ever having lost sight of each other; and just to mention a few: Andrea Belli, Mauro Del Santo, and Giovanni Organtini …

Our Maker Faire was this, too: a journey into the future through our memories.
