Job Digital Lab in Florence: digital as a driver for growth

Job Digital Lab arrives in the Tuscan capital with a new event dedicated to the digital transformation of micro and small businesses, particularly in the craft sector. The meeting will be held today, Thursday 12 June, from 2.45 pm to 6 pm, at the headquarters of the Florence Chamber of Commerce, in Piazza dei Giudici 3.

The training course, promoted by Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS and ING Italia, is organised in collaboration with Camera di Commercio di Firenze, Punto Impresa Digitale, Cna Firenze Metropolitana and Confartigianato Imprese Firenze. The aim is to support the digital skills of local artisans and professionals by offering practical tools and strategies to face the challenges of the present.

An evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem

With over 341,000 active businesses, including almost 100,000 craft businesses, Tuscany remains one of the Italian regions with the highest density of SMEs. In Florence, the craft sector is particularly vibrant: in the metropolitan area alone, there are 26,800 craft businesses, most of which are sole proprietorships (77.6%). A deep-rooted and dynamic productive fabric that today is looking closely at the opportunities offered by the digital transition.

Three steps to innovation: storytelling, method, tools

The format of the meeting, entitled Business and local craftsmanship: digital as a driver of growth”, guides participants through three operational phases:

  1. Storytelling as a lever for building and strengthening brand identity
  2. A three-step method for effectively integrating digital technology into business processes
  3. Tools and practices for starting to innovate right away.

The training will be brought to life by testimonials from two local craft businesses: La Galleria Nuove Forme d'Arte and Roberto Poggiali Gioielli.

VAT numbers between autonomy and uncertainty

The meeting will feature a preview of the ING People Insight Lab survey, conducted in collaboration with YouGov, which explores the motivations, obstacles and aspirations of professionals with VAT numbers. Among the most significant findings:

  • Only 1 in 3 would recommend opening a VAT number today.
  • 53% did so out of necessity, but the number of those doing so for autonomy or relocation is increasing.
  • The main sources of anxiety are economic uncertainty (57%) and tax pressure (48%).
  • Despite the difficulties, 49% maintain a positive outlook on their professional future.

The results will be presented by Francesco Ramazzotti, Head of Go-to-Market & Strategic Partnerships at ING Italia.
