The experience of the Istituto comprensivo Saverio Nitti at RomeCup 2023
Edward, 13, has participated in three editions of RomeCup. And he has also already participated in a European Robotics Championship abroad, in Germany. Today, he faces the competitions with a more mature outlook. He is aware that one must not only be passionate, but also “professional and concentrated.” He is serious. He speaks well and is aware of the commitment he will have to put in to improve.
Behind Edward’s successes, there is a pillar of RomeCup, Flaminia Mariotti, Professor at the Istituto comprensivo Via Nitti in Rome. Indeed, Prof. Mariotti is at her 8th presence at the RomeCup competitions. Her tenacity and ability to overcome all issues, just to be at the event, with her students, is renowned. She firmly believes in the inclusive educational power of robotics “as a language for everyone.”
Flaminia once again brought her young “robot makers” to conquer the title of Italian Robotics Champions in the “On stage Preliminary” Category with Team 2023 Octopus Story Robot. A team that has drawn support from the entire school, from Edward’s 8th grade to the children in primary school year 2.
Here is an interview with Onelia Onorati at the Campidoglio, on the final day.
