RomeCup 2023

Multi-event in Rome, May 3-5

A large event, now in its 16th edition, dedicated to the frontiers of technological development, which focuses on the value of the person and the planet. The RomeCup 2023, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, aims to discuss science and technology by bringing together schools, universities, businesses and institutions.

The event centres around research, training, guidance and innovative educational approaches that can influence the growth of youth by directing them towards a new model of integrated multi-disciplinary education. Scientists, philosophers, educators, opinion leaders, scholars, business leaders and public decision-makers will address various topics:

Will we arrive at an artificial intelligence with the adaptability and versatility of human intelligence? How can artificial intelligence help save the planet? Will artificial intelligence replace human labour? If, as Raymond Kurzweil argues, during the course of this century the non-biological part of our intelligence will far exceed human intelligence, how will we react? Does human-machine interaction go against or is it part of the divine design? What are the ethical implications in this field?

Since its first edition, RomeCup has been a multi-event with conferences, competitions, workshops and challenges that form the backdrop for robots built by Italian students. Young people discover the joy of learning in an open context, collaborating and sharing knowledge and skills. They explore the more inclusive frontiers of technology. RomeCup is an original model of a vertical accelerator for development, which involves schools, universities, research centres, start-ups, SMEs and production districts. For students engaged in international challenges, the motto is always the same: "The important thing is not to win, but to learn."

For the 16th edition, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has introduced the “Advancing Technology for Humanity. Most Promising Researcher in Robotics and AI” Award dedicated to researchers engaged in research projects in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.

RomeCup will be held from May 3 to 5, 2023 in Rome at the Campus Bio-Medico University, which is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, and at the Rome Campidoglio.
