Today, Lavinio teems with excitement and activity. The headquarters of the Provincial Police is hosting the final event of LC2 – Language, Culture and Computers: Key Competencies for Integration, a project co-financed by the European Union (European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals) that integrates language, computer studies and culture through the use of new technologies.

“Our collaboration will continue to increase as project directors indicate ever more ambitious results - such as this one - and demonstrate a concrete desire for a greater cultural aperture,” explains Ezio Paluzzi, Province of Rome Councillor for Safety Policy and Civil Protection.

Nadia Minati, Central Director of the Civil Services for Immigration and Asylum Unit of the Ministry of the Interior emphasizes the importance of this attitude towards cultural integration. “IT makes us free and gives us all the same footing," the prefect says to underline the strategic role of new technology for teaching the Italian language, culture and civil and social education.

At the end of the event, the Prefect presented the certificates to all the course participants.

The event also witnessed the participation of Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Umberto Succi, Councillor for Sports, Tourism and Cultural Policy at the Municipality of Anzio, and the professors and foreign citizens that participated in the project.

Raheela, one of the participants, comes from Pakistan. “Today is the last day of the course,” she tells us. “I would like to thank my teachers, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and all the other subjects that made this project possible. In Pakistan, I was a teacher. Now, Italy is my second country and I would like to continue participating in these courses as they help us to socialize, improve our skills and find better work.”

Project LC2 – Language, Culture and Computers: Key Competencies for Integration aims to allow foreign citizens residing in Lavinio and Anzio to acquire the key competencies necessary to actively participate as citizens in their new country. The project is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with the collaboration of the Eriches 29 Consortium of Social Cooperatives and the participation of the Province of Rome and the Municipality of Anzio. Operative partners include the Centro linguistico Hughes, KStudio Associato (network KPMG) and the Il Percorso cooperative. The courses were attended by 54 immigrant citizens (32 men and 22 women) prevalently from India and Pakistan.
