From the generational divide to the gender gap, the Grandparents on the Internet Project does not only fight against social exclusion and the digital exclusion of the elderly. The digital literacy courses are also attended by women, especially housewives, that come to discover the social and formative dimension of an active life.
Amongst the more than 6000 senior navigators that have earned a certificate in the six editions of Grandparents on the Internet, in fact, more than 50% are women over the age of sixty, with a majority of them in the 60-70 age bracket.
The presence of women on-line is increasing throughout Europe. In Italy, in 2006-2007, 55% of the new on-line presences were women.
