Two participating teams were selected at RomeCup 2023

26th edition of the World Robotics Championships (RoboCup, July 4 - 10), involving 2500 participants from 45 countries and 2000 robots. Unfortunately, of the three teams selected at RomeCup 2023, only two are competing:

Team SPQR 2 from ITIS Galileo Galilei in Roma had to forfeit the event.

The team from San Donà di Piave is composed by Alin Odobescu and Michele Tesser in Class 5D, Computer Curriculum, who have just taken their state exams. They are accompanied by Prof. Fabrizio Vendramin.

In the Rescue Simulation category, teams have to develop and programme strategies so that robots can move independently, collecting objects on real and virtual pitches to win.

Team Go for Broke from the Polo tecnologico Manetti Porciatti in Grosseto is composed by Pietro De Maria and Livio Lorenzoni, students in Class 5, Electronics Curriculum. They are trained by Electronics and Electrotechnics Prof. Daniele Dattrino, who has coordinated the school’s entire educational robotics programme.

In the soccer championship, two teams compete two-on-two. The robots have to be able to identify the ball, the markings on the pitch, and identify the colour of the goals. There are two categories: in Soccer Lightweight the ball emits infrared impulses that makes it easier to identify, while in Soccer Open the orange ball emits no signals.

Team SPQR from Sapienza University of Rome, which was at RomeCup with Nao demos, is participating in the Champions Cup in the Standard Platform League. It’s the first time that the competitions feature teams composed of seven robots, Nao robots by SoftBank Robotics. The robots intercommunicate, but each one makes independent decisions.
