Social Media Week & Digital Angels

During the five days of the Web Festival (Feb. 7-11), student tutors participating in the Grandparents on the Internet Project promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale have served throughout the city of Rome as knowledge volunteers.

 

This allowed elders taking a walk to stop by and participate in small laboratories demonstrating the practical, useful and daily opportunities provided by the Internet: from video-calls, free worldwide, to the universe of digital photography. Functionality and services provided by simple technology can benefit everyone.

 

Digital Angels is promoted by Augmendyin collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Illyand the Science Festival.

 

The Social Media Week witnessed the participation of 330 student tutors from over 25 schools from Rome and its provinces accompanied by 40 coordinating teachers and elderly centre members participating in the digital literacy course devised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Amongst the elders, there were also many senior citizens who have become experts thanks to the inter-generational learning methodology and can know teach their peers the secrets of the web.
