Presentation of Swat and Dig4All: presentations, photos, and videos
Yesterday, in Rome, at Binario F, partners presented the services, methodologies, and tools of Projects Swat and Dig4All, which provide digital training courses with a focus on custom-tailored learning and the most in-demand profiles. Free training, work orientation, and certified skills are the characteristics that make these two projects especially attractive to the two categories that currently present the highest unemployment rates in Italy.
In particular, Project Supporting Women, Arousing Talents (SWAT) will address 250 unemployed women, aged 18-50, in search of employment and/or a better job.
Project Dig4All will address 240 young women and men aged 16-34 who are neither studying nor working (NEET) in six regions in central and northern Italy (Lombardy, Liguria, Piedmont, Emilia Romagna, Umbria, and Lazio).
For over twenty years, we have been promoting inclusion by using digital technology as a social accelerator. All of our projects seek to drive the ability to develop a “personal ecosystem” and keep improving on it. We define this as “self-enterprise.” This is the foundation of Swat and Dig4All which are based on two central components: orientation and custom-tailored learning. The two social emergencies of the labour market – NEETs and women – are addressed through a strong alliance and a specialised team, also promoting synergies with institutional strategies. Swat and Dig4All employ services, methodologies, and tools to provide digital training courses that focus on custom-tailoring learning and the most in-demand professional profiles. Moreover, the acquired skills are certified.

Project Swat represents a virtuous example of promoting social inclusion through labour. In a context in which the gender gap, salary inequality, and lack of opportunities for professional advancement are true challenges, we firmly believe that digital training and the constant development of skills are the key tools to promote the employment of women, who have been excluded from the labour market or who are in search of more satisfying and better paying jobs. With this objective, we decided to participate in Project Swat to guarantee equal access to all participants. On-line training allows us to reach out to a wider audience, including the most remote areas, however, thanks to the precious support of ARCI, we also provide on-site training in 12 cities. Moreover, to ensure that no woman is left behind, the project also includes concrete support through babysitting services, and Internet connections and PCs for the women who need it. Initiatives of this type underline the constant commitment of the Fondazione Adecco to orient fragile individuals at risk of social exclusion towards a better professional future, through training.

ARCI’s strength in this project is represented by our network of local offices throughout the country, meeting points that serve as local antennae, understanding needs and providing solutions through services, culture, and meetings. The twelve local seats involved in the project will welcome women participating in the training courses. Caring means helping women to weave a social network and solidary community that will not leave them alone. Caring means guaranteeing a welcoming place for women to meet people who can help orient them, where they can take their children, and receive information, orientation and enjoy socialization.

Project Dig4All is based on the fact that, especially in suburban and provincial areas in central and northern Italy, there is a high percentage of NEETs, inactive and discouraged individuals who overlook opportunities for insertion or reinsertion on the labour market. The project intends to provide soft and specialized skills that are essential to vast range of market sectors to increase employment opportunities for young men and women. The project aims to encourage innovation and enterprise amongst youth, driving them to develop their own employment opportunities. In this context, the activities are key to reduce social inequalities. The digital training courses and custom-tailored orientation services provided by our career coaches are free, so to promote new learning and entrepreneurial opportunities, especially amongst those starting out from more unfavourable socio-economic conditions that could exclude them.

The collaboration between the University of Roma Tre and FMD on this project is very important. It provides added value to people, as it assesses and validates the formal and substantial elements of the courses, allowing for skills certification and a better value to their certification on the labour market.

Today, Europe underlines the importance of personalized curricula with micro-credentials, as also promoted by the European recommendation on individual learning accounts. We have to help people to face labour market mobility with lifelong learning courses. Riccardo Mazzarella, Researcher, National Institute for Public Policy Analysis (INAPP)
