How to use the platform to find professional opportunities.
Imagine having a professional experience that you wish to provide to companies but work independently. Can LinkedIn help you find the right collaborations? Marco Rossi, who was involved in a coaching session last November as part of LinkedIn – Skills for the Recovery Project tells us about his experience.
As a professional with a long experience in the world of media and communication, he found the initiative very interesting. “I am a consultant in the marketing and digital tools area. I support companies to develop digital strategies, position themselves adequately, and make the most of their potential market. I help organizations design digital transformation processes, from the initial identification of business needs to the launch of products and services, audience engagement, and final conversion. These are fundamental aspects to optimally seize all the opportunities offered by the digital world.”
Marco went from being an employee in structured and organized contexts to founding a start-up. “It was a very stimulating phase because it allowed me to experiment with new solutions through a smart and dynamic approach. I also carry out mentorship activities for start-up acceleration in the tech sector.”
Now, Marco is a freelancer and has been working in consulting for a few years, but he doesn’t define himself as a classic freelancer as he is generally involved in projects that require a full-time commitment. “This is exactly the reason why I followed the project developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with LinkedIn. I consider it a fundamental platform for developing a valuable network and finding new opportunities. I always try to keep updated and when this opportunity presented itself, I seized it immediately.”
“It’s not the first time that I’ve taken a coaching course for personal branding, but the session still was fruitful. I was pleased to meet Ilaria Rossi, a very experienced professional with a great professional career,” says Marco. After sending my CV and LinkedIn profile, we had an on-line meeting to go into more detail. “Ilaria Rossi confirmed that my profile is well structured, but there was no shortage of further ideas. She recommended I take a more specific direction, so as to immediately present the value and the type of contribution that I offer. In this way, I can certainly propose myself in a more direct and timely manner.” In the community engagement phase, in fact, it is important to propose oneself clearly. The phases address the strategic direction to undertake, the actions, without neglecting the mental approach which always represents one of the most important challenges for freelancers like me who go through phases of discontinuity and uncertainty.”
