Job Digital Lab stories: with digital, agrifood becomes 4.0

"[...] I decided to devote myself only to Foodu: it was not easy for me as a woman, an entrepreneur in the South, developing innovation, but I never flinched in front of a door that would not open."

Antonella Fasano, founder of Foodu, will tell her story on March 9 in Bari during the event "Artificial Intelligence and Digital Marketing for the Blue Economy: the development of local businesses goes from here, as part of the Job Digital Lab training program [register].

With the help of Nicoletta Vulpetti, a lover of identity stories, we are also enriching the third edition of the Job Digital Lab training program, designed with ING Italia, with the stories of people who are protagonists of change, both personal and community.

I am a telecommunications engineer.

Since immediately after graduation, I have been working in traditional companies: established SMEs, engineering sector.

In the last one I was involved in the production of needles for tumor thermoablations: even saying that, it sounds like an abstruse world. Then the twins were born: I decided to turn my life around. I wanted to leave a mark, to make sense of what took me at least eight hours a day.

I choose the food area, because it is the one through which you can impact most positively, both for people and for the planet.

That of food is a very long and complex supply chain: from farmer to consumer, the steps are numerous. My goal has been to shorten it as much as possible, bringing producer, retailer and buyer closer together, through a concrete tool.

Which one? A technological and participatory platform.

This is how "Foodu. The tribe of the healthy and the good": we digitized the supply chain.

With Foodu, companies - even the smallest, most precious, artisanal ones, which don't find space in the large-scale retail trade - can have their products tested by our "foooders," who leave their opinion through a short guided questionnaire that overcomes the logic of the personal, often humoral review.

In Foodu, we wanted to bring together market analysis for businesses and the provision of quality products for consumers: in the end, a community of foooders was created.

Before 2019, I had kept my job in the company: I was walking a double track, employee and entrepreneur.

Then, I decided to devote myself only to Foodu: it was not easy for me as a woman, an entrepreneur in the South, developing innovation, but I never flinched at a door that would not open.

Now, with the community growing and the projects increasing, the satisfaction is great.

With the conviction that in life it matters more to be passionate than ambitious: with ambition, the gaze becomes narrow, folded in on itself; passion, on the other hand, makes you look beyond and draws others into its perimeter.
