The Bologna session on the Mediverse
"The Metaverse is still a mystery to many people. Yet, it is a concept that, in theory, has existed for more than 30 years. It came back into vogue in 2021 when Mark Zuckerberg changed the name of Facebook to Meta. In this sense, today’s Bologna event on "Mediverse: The Metaverse for Healthcare," which explored its potential for the well-being of people, provided an opportunity for "reflection on how to use augmented reality in the health sector," explains Antonio Danieli, Vice-President and General Director of the Golinelli Foundation, because “the Metaverse is not just about games and entertainment.” In reality, and it really isn’t a surprise, its most interesting applications are in service and public utility sectors, such as healthcare. The Mediverse is "an increasingly important area, as we need the Metaverse for healthcare," points out Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. In short, innovation and education at the service of everyone and for "changing people's lives, this is technology,” he continues. We need to "create a new type of education for our children in the 21st century, we can and must integrate many more things." In the future, he announces, it will be possible "to study Leonardo da Vinci, speaking directly with his avatar."
