J Factor at RomeCup: the next stages of the Health Bot contest

Last December saw the end of the application phase for the second edition of Health Bot, the first educational contest dedicated to secondary school students. The aim is to promote the conception and prototyping of innovative robotics and artificial intelligence solutions applied to the health sector.

Organised in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Italia, as part of the Fattore J project, the contest culminates during the 18th edition of the Rome Cup, scheduled for 8 May 2025 at the Faculty of Engineering of theUniversità degli Studi di Roma Tre.

The final phase
The selected schools in the different regions (Lazio, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Campania, Sicily and Apulia) are already at work developing and perfecting their prototypes. In the coming months, the students will participate in online training sessions to deepen technical and methodological aspects in view of the finalelevator pitch. Each team has five minutes to present its prototype in front of a jury of experts. Projects are judged on criteria such as originality, social impact, team collaboration and clarity of presentation. The three best projects are rewarded for their innovative potential and ability to respond to real challenges in the field of health.

Designing for people: meet the expert
Next 16 January, from 9 to 10 a.m., students will meet Michele Fiori, researcher at the Department of Informatics of the State University of Milan, specialising in artificial intelligence applied to medicine. During the webinar, Fiori will illustrate Design Thinking, a creative and user-centred approach that is fundamental for designing effective technological solutions. The focus of the meeting is the importance of understanding the real needs of end users, using practical tools to collect data, generate ideas, build prototypes and validate solutions. Particular attention is paid to the Human in the Loop approach, which constantly integrates user interaction into the development process, ensuring more effective and targeted solutions.

Tools and methodologies
During the webinar, participants discover useful resources for managing each phase of a technology project, with practical tips for dealing with the challenges of the development cycle. The objective is to provide teams with all the necessary skills to design truly innovative, useful and usable solutions, ready to concretely improve the health sector.e le competenze necessarie per progettare soluzioni realmente innovative, utili e fruibili, pronte a migliorare concretamente il settore della salute.
