Factor J: a civic volunteering experience with Cittadinanzattiva.
In Italy, there are nearly 12 million podcast users, 39% of internet users aged 16-60, an increase over last year’s 36%. According to the results of the Digital Audio Survey 2023, the podcast format will continue to grow, also because it reaches a non-mainstream audience, with profiles that are difficult to reach by other media.
Given the simplicity and ease of use, a smartphone is all one needs. So, can podcasts be transformed into a tool for involvement and active participation on health? This is the challenge launched by Cittadinanzattiva to ten students in Lazio who are participating in Factor J, a project developed with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, and who wish to be involved in volunteer activities with partner associations.
Guided by Cittadinanzattiva experts, students will learn to create multimedia content and podcasts to raise awareness on the topic of "being active citizens." After an initial meeting to present Cittadinanzattiva, lab and reflection activities will be held on what it means to be active citizens from the point of view of a student. The final result of the process will be the development and use of a podcast channel to raise awareness and inform others.
For theoretical and practical training activities and work in the recording room, students will have 30 hours recognised as part of PCTO courses. The first three meetings will be held at Cittadinanzattiva (Via Imera 2, San Giovanni area), while the following ones will take place at the VoiceBookRadio recording studios, the web radio born in the Rome Liceo Kennedy (Via della Lungara, 142).
