Ilaria Graziano and Marta Pietrelli in Dublin for the Google summit

Today and tomorrow, Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 March, project manager Ilaria Graziano and project officer Marta Pietrelli are taking part in Growing Up in the Digital Age 2025, the summit organized by Google in Dublin. The event brings together experts, researchers and civil society organizations to discuss the challenges and opportunities of growing up in the digital age, with a focus on digital education, online safety and the impact of artificial intelligence on young people. The program includes a combination of interactive panels, conferences and talks by multidisciplinary experts, with the participation of organizations and coalitions that work closely with Google on child safety issues. The event is hosted by the Google Safety Engineering Center on the Dublin, Ireland campus.

This afternoon, pre-summit roundtables are scheduled on two crucial topics:

13-16 | Round table on age verification
Experts and representatives of the main digital platforms discuss innovative solutions to guarantee safe access to online content for minors. The interactive workshop allows for the practical implementation of these tools to be explored.

16.30 – 18.30 | Enhancing online safety in the age of AI
Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the digital world, but it also poses new challenges in terms of content moderation, youth protection and ethical education on AI. During this session, the risks and opportunities of AI are analyzed, with contributions from civil society organizations and the Google.org School with Class program.

A space dedicated to the exchange of ideas and the creation of new collaborations between experts and professionals in the sector.

Tomorrow the summit “Growing Up in the Digital Age 2025” will take place. The event's agenda addresses key issues for the future of digital education:

Digital skills: how to integrate digital education into school curricula

Online well-being: strategies for a conscious use of technology

Internet safety: tools to protect minors from the risks of the web

Digital inclusion: guaranteeing equal access to digital opportunities

The event is an important opportunity to explore the role of digital platforms in the education and protection of young people, promoting innovative solutions and strategic partnerships.
