Second GIFT marathon in Crotone
The second creative marathon of Project GIFT, a virtual experience involving students at the Liceo G.V. Gravina and ITI Donegani in Crotone, was held last Wednesday [for the first marathon, see The Words that Change]. Circa 70 students from third-year classes participating in the project were involved in the creation of slogans and communicational messages related to the Sustainable Development Goals, working collaboratively on Microsoft Teams. With the help of tutors and tools such as Canva, the participants, divided into nine Group: s and virtual rooms, developed creative ideas and efficient presentations that were evaluated by a jury of peer educators and project partners.
An example of innovative learning and active participation, a way for the students to raise awareness on crucial issues such as gender equality, climate change, and social justice. A mini creative marathon helped drive the ideas of the young generation and encourage a commitment for a sustainable future.
"Participating in this type of activity with the students is always a surprise, a window into a world that I find both familiar and distant. Seeing them work together takes me back to high school and, instinctively, I can't help but notice the differences (in the way they speak, in the way they relate) but also similarities (the desire to get involved, to share their ideas and thoughts). I like the way they debate. They share dreams and perspectives on the world. And it reminds me of how important school is as a space for growth, a safe place where one can listen and above all be listened to. Where one can express ideas without fear, with the concrete feeling of really being able to make a difference," says Alberta Testa, Social Media Manager for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and event tutor.
The session was held by Coach Raffaele Pelligra with tutors Alberta Testa, Gianmattia Mignone, Mohamed Fadiga, Edoardo Mancini, and Domenica Cesena.
