Become a Peer Educator

An opportunity for young men and women aged 19-25 in Rome, Padua, Crotone, and Ancona.

You’ll have the opportunity to accompany and support students participating in Project GIFT in key activities, working as volunteer tutors, helping students to truly understand what they have learned, encouraging a use of social media to learn and collaborate in an innovative manner, but also as a new form of expression and a tool for sharing and storytelling. You will not only learn new things, but also put everything you know into practice, contributing to the success of the project and creating a positive impact on your community.

The Peer Educator Course requires 8 (minimum) to 20 hours (maximum) of attendance at the following meetings:

 

Oct. 17, 2024, 16:00-18:00

First on-line meeting (2 hours) for all interested peer educators on the role and taks of a peer educator: responsability, motivation, inspiration, and listening, value of role modeling in training processes.

 

Which area do you prefer?

Three are available:

  1. Creation of a videogame on the objectives of the Agenda 2030: the strength of a videogame resides in its story that must be exciting. Help “young designers” in school to conceive an educational videogame to inform and raise the awareness of young people and citizens on the Sustainable Development Goals.
  2. Storytelling and collaborative evaluation of project with participants (students, teachers, stakeholders): learning to conduct interviews with Project GIFT participants and collect significant testimonials to assess the value of the experience and contribute to the social storytelling. 
  3. Creative mini-marathongs, digital rooms, and tools for project communications: help participants during the course of an original on-line creative marathon (digital contest) to identify a slogan, communications pay-offs, and small social advertising campaigns for Project GIFT, or help students to better understand SDGs in order to participate in on-line debates in virtual rooms with peers with a different opinion.

Introductory on-line meeting: the power of videogames as an eduational tool; introduction to videogame development. Appointment: Oct. 23, 2024, 16:30-18:00

Introductory on-line meeting: learn to present significant experiences through storytelling techniques; how to structure an efficient interview: from an outline to active listening. Appointment: Oct. 25, 2024, 14.30-16:00

Introductory on-line meeting: main tools for digital storytelling; social media strategies. Choosing a tone of voice and propsing original content. Appointment: Oct. 25, 2024, ore 16.30-18:00
 

HOW TO PREPARE

You will not be alone! Supercoach Cecilia Stajano, FMD Community Coordinator, together with experts on various issues, will accompany and monitor your experience as a peer educator with useful advice and tools on how to best carry out your tasks. Cecilia will be available on-line to help you understand how to promote the students’ school work and support their talents.

After the introductory meeting, you will be guided through your peer educator experience with a custom-tailored programme based on the amount of time you will be able to dedicate to the initiative.

We will also provide your with a diary to document your expiernce.

 

AT THE END

At the end of the experience, you will receive an open badge, a digital micro-credential certifying your active participation in the programme and the acquired skills and knowledge.
