RomeCup 2024

Robotics and AI for Holistic Sustainability

The RomeCup is a unique and original event with a strategic vision: the new generations as enabling technology for development. It is a three-day multi-event dedicated to the innovation ecosystem which, since 2007, has brought new generations closer to the study of scientific subjects and developed skills and professional profiles for employment, research and development. Young people discover the thrill of learning in an open context, collaborating and sharing knowledge and skills, while exploring the most inclusive frontiers of technology. It is an original vertical accelerator for development, which involves schools, universities, research centres, companies, and institutions. Educational workshops, robotics competitions, university orientation sessions, creative contests, hackathons, inspirational talks … the RomeCup is an extraordinary immersive experience in the present and future of mankind.

The multi-event includes:

  • Showcase Area: a three-day exhibition with innovative projects presented by schools, companies, start-ups, universities, and research centres.
  • Robotics Competitions: Italian schools compete for he International City of Rome Robotics Trophy and to qualify for the World Championships (RoboCup) in Eindhoven, Netherlands (July 17-24, 2024).
  • Creative Contest: mixed teams (researchers, university professors and upper secondary school students, including PCTO) work on robot prototypes and software interfaces.
  • Didactic Labs: educational robotics for teachers and students.
  • Conferences: international experts address the frontiers of this technology.
  • Inspirational Talks: sessions with scientists, professors, scholars, and company leaders dedicated to young men and women.
  • Awards Ceremony: on the third day, the Rome Campidoglio will host the final competitions and awards will be presented to the winning teams.

The 17th edition, which is promoted in collaboration with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, will focus on technological innovation, based on robotic and artificial intelligence solutions, at the service of holistic sustainability, to address environmental, social, and economic challenges in an integrated manner, placing people at the centre. Scientists, scholars, educators, public decision makers, and managers will debate the ethical challenges posed by the "great technological acceleration" to promote sustainable and inclusive development for the well-being of mankind and the planet. The discussion, open to the convergence of different fields, will involve schools and educational communities.

FMD promotes the 2nd edition of the “Advancing Technology for Humanity: Most promising Researcher in Robotics and AI” Award for researchers working on projects in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, with the perspective of an "E4-Sustainability: Ecological, Energetic, Economic and Ethical-social".

WHEN: March 20-22, 2024
