Hackathon at the University of Cagliari
Italian universities welcome back Coding Girls, the educational programme that provides young men and women with orientations for their studies and the professions of the future, working on STEM subjects. Currently in its ninth edition, the programme is based on a solid educational alliance coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale that involves schools, families, universities, companies, and public and private organisations. Moreover, the programme operates in synergy with the United States Diplomatic Mission to Italy, in collaboration with Microsoft, Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and ING Italia.
This year, the project will involve 900 students in 42 second-degree secondary schools for a total of 176 training hours with 12 hackathons (Rome, Milan, Gorizia, Salerno, Bari, Pisa, Palermo, Cagliari, Naples, Bologna, Perugia, Ancona) and 40 Coaches. The ninth edition is also introducing orientation. Universities will host the hackathons and involve their students as tutors and role models.
Following the training sessions on Marvel Software, on the day of the hackathon, students will compete to develop an app. The theme will be announced on the day of the hackathon. The competition involves three local schools: Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore G. Brotzu (Quartu Sant'Elena), Liceo Scientifico Antonio Pacinotti (Cagliari), Liceo Classico G. M. Dettori (Cagliari).
The hackathon will be hosted by the University of Cagliari, Faculty of Humanities, Sa Duchessa Complex (Via Mirrionis 1).
