A Youthful Resource

The students who participated in the Festival of Digital Culture and manned the Grandparents on the Internet in Tuscia stand received an official certificate of recognition for their help by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Province of Viterbo.

Mirta Michilli, FMD Director General, and Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy and Scientific Director of the FMD, were present at the ceremony together with Paolo Bianchini, Youth and Social Policy Councilor for the Province of Viterbo.

“The Province has accepted the challenge of overcoming the digital divide and fully backs this project,” Councilor Bianchini explained to the students. “Often, young people are seen as a problem instead of a resource, but a project such as Grandparents on the Internet in Tuscia provides a perfect opportunity to overcome this type of prejudice.”
In a video interview with Roberto Pomi (Radio Verde), the councilor speaks about the initiative.

“All the students with whom we have worked, loved this experience. They learn many things, including patience, and discover the beauty of coming into contact with other generations,” Mirta Michilli pointed out before presenting the participation certificates to the knowledge volunteers and the coordinating teachers who help make all these activities possible.

Even Chiara Frontini, Viterbo Province Councilor for Innovation, addressed the audience and explained the importance of the project for the 2012 European Year for Intergenerational Exchange and Active Ageing.
