The all-female Coding Girls Marathon has ended, but their passion for coding and technology has not.
While schools begin to organize new initiatives, here are three interviews with three young protagonists aged 14, 18 and 24.
Antonella, 14, attends the Augusto Righi School in Rome. Interviewed by Rosy D’Elia, Antonella confesses that before this experience she knew nothing about computers and technology. However, the collaborative spirit of the hackathon won her over. The protagonist of the game she developed with her teammates is an alien who has to solve a series of problems, including the pollution that humans are not facing.
Mariarca, 18, is a student at the Naples IIS Alfonso Casanova. Thanks to the hackathon, she has decided what work she wants to do in the future and is trying to collect the right skills to reach her objective. She speaks about a “puzzle” of abilities and skills, and this is exactly what companies are looking for in young men and women.
Giorgia, 24, is a veteran. She is a tutor at the Coding Girls Event and helps US Coach Ashley Gavin. She is studying computer science at Sapienza University of Rome. “The girls were outstanding,” she says. “They were very creative, notwithstanding the fact that the hackathon is a hard event. They proved their commitment, tenacity and passion.”
