Storytelling with Scratch

For the second year, IIS C. Battisti in Velletri won the "Learn STEM in the Summer" Call promoted by the Department for Equal Opportunities.

The new project is called Pink Lab and “entails the development of special courses on scientific subjects (mathematics, scientific and technological culture, computer science and coding) through innovative methods, especially for girls and young women, to overcome the stereotypes and prejudice that feed the knowledge gap between young women in school and males regarding STEM subjects, both in terms of studies and professional orientation.”

Pink Lab is based on various modules of in-lab educational experience:

  • Math games to learn about the fun aspects of this subject;
  • Introduction to coding;
  • Open World Game Minecraft
  • Programming with Scratch in English
  • Introduction to Kodu, a visual programming language.

Today (3-6 pm), Coach Marco Brocchieri will hold the first of three sessions on coding (for a total of 10 hours) that will focus on Scratch and an introduction to storytelling for the last year of second-degree secondary school students.
