Remid@, the human face of digital inclusion

Beatrice and Valentina, two Milanese trainers promoting proximity technology

REMID@ – Making Milan Inclusive and Digital is not just a project to combat the digital divide. It is a daily effort of listening, accompanying and building trust, bringing digital transformation where it is truly needed: in neighbourhoods, relationships and people's lives.

Promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale together with MigliorAttivaMente APS, the Municipality of Milan and the Fondazione di Comunità Milano, REMID@ has evolved over time to become a travelling model of digital facilitation, capable of identifying concrete and often invisible needs. At the heart of this change are people. In particular, professionals such as Beatrice Chiarini and Valentina Tius, who make innovation accessible, understandable and human every day.

Valentina: designing access, facilitating participation

Valentina's professional career lies at the intersection of communication, digital design and working with people. As a web developer and communications manager for sports and third sector organisations, she has learned to translate ideas and needs into concrete tools, paying equal attention to technical and relational aspects.

Her experience in inclusive contexts and teamwork has strengthened her particular sensitivity to accessibility, respect for individual timelines and learning processes. At the same time, Valentina has gained solid educational and training experience with children, young people and adults, promoting the conscious use of technology and active participation in community life.

Within Remid@, Valentina puts these skills to use in supporting and training citizens, assisting them in the use of technology and digital services. Attention to accessibility and individual learning pace thus becomes an integral part of a proximity technology designed to respond to concrete, everyday needs.

Beatrice: accompanying, reassuring, restoring autonomy

Beatrice brings a curious and open-minded approach to her work, fuelled by interests ranging from art to science fiction to politics, which she cultivates by participating in talks, debates and in-depth discussions. It is this curiosity, combined with a strong sense of social responsibility, that led her to become a digital trainer for the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. ‘In every work experience, I look for something that makes me feel socially useful. Working in the non-profit sector and contributing, even in my own small way, to reducing social inequalities is what gives meaning to my days.’ She deeply believes in the value of digital autonomy and loves being a point of reference for those who feel uncomfortable with technology, especially older people or those who are not digital natives. ‘Helping someone book a doctor's appointment online or manage paperwork without having to depend on others may seem simple, but in reality it means restoring autonomy, security and self-confidence.’

Thanks to the dedication of professionals like Beatrice and Valentina, Milan is building a model of innovation that leaves no one behind, because it puts people, relationships and trust at the centre. This is where technology truly finds its deepest meaning.
