Stories of the future in the cloud

Over 50 Piedmontese students take part in the first Creative Day

Seven schools, five provinces, fifteen finalist projects and a creative challenge that combines storytelling, artificial intelligence and the digital future. These are the numbers and the protagonists of the first Creative Day by Roll Cloud. Lavorare sulla nuvola (Working on the Cloud) is a programme created in collaboration with Opening Future, a joint project of Google Cloud, Intesa Sanpaolo and TIM Enterprise, to accompany students on a journey of discovery of the cloud and emerging professions.

The event took place yesterday in the Officine Grandi Riparazioni in Turin, transformed for the occasion into a large laboratory of ideas and experimentation. 57 young people from lower and upper secondary schools from five provinces of Piedmont took part: Turin, Asti, Alessandria, Novara and Vercelli.

The challenge: to tell a story, visualising its essence

After an initial online course, in which they designed and wrote an Easy Cloud Story enriched with images generated with artificial intelligence tools, the participants took on a new challenge: to transform their story into a powerful cover image. To do this, they used tools such as Gemini and DeepDream, working in groups and discussing their ideas with trainers and experts from FMD, TIM Enterprise and Google Cloud.

The winners

First place went to the I tecnologici team from the Castelnuovo don Bosco comprehensive school (Asti) with their project Il risveglio bionico, a story of rebirth and transformation between nature and technology. In the team: Angelo, Greta, Andrea and Elisa.

Special prizes also for

  • Most creative project: The last hope of humanity by the Echo tree team (IC Santhià, VC). In the team: Carlos, Edoardo and Sayuri
  • Most futuristic project: Uomo.exe by the Neurocore team (Liceo Valdese, TO). In the team: Igor, Andrea, Giuliano and Alessandro Fabio
  • Best use of artificial intelligence: Echo-37 by the team I visionari di neo-Milano (IC Rivalta Bormida, AL). In the team Adnane, Camilla and Raffaele

All the finalist projects will also be featured in the next edition of the RomeCup, scheduled in Rome from 7 to 9 May, at the Opening Future stand. Furthermore, the winning team will be live on 8 May to talk about their experience.
