On November 16 and 19, 2012 (10 am)lessons will be held at the Istituto di Istruzione Superiore "M.Pagano" in Naples and the Istituto Tecnico Industriale in Scampia.
Nearly 500 of the 1000 students involved in the project are from the Campania Region.
Today, after the first day of lessons, the students began producing the first ideas for social innovation projects: Diana and Valentina are attracted by the issue of waste, urban cleanliness and clean beaches (like those they go to in Bagnoli, Naples) and would like to involve not only their families, but also local enterprises in their project. Aldo wants to develop his first digital application with the help of Microsoft technology and devise a system to simplify the organization of the school calendar and the assignment of homework. There also is an entire team of boys and girls who want to become entrepreneurs and promote a culture of legality amongst the younger children. There also are projects against smog and in favour of a healthier lifestyle through the use of bicycles in the Mergellina neighbourhood; a common gym and a physiotherapy centre for the elderly who cannot afford medical expenses and many other ideas that will soon be transformed into projects.
"This project employs technology to involve students in school activities and active citizenship, both locally and for the entire community. It allows them to develop competences and gear up for the job market,” explains Dario Nitido, Computer Studies Professor at the Istituto Pagano in Naples and coordinator for Project Meet No Neet.
