The Pane e Internet (Bread and Internet) Project, promoted by the Emilia Romagna Region for the 2011-2013 edition, now has a new intergenerational learning model. Thanks to the agreement with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, it has now become Pane e Internet per Nonni e Nipoti.
Nine provinces in the Region - Bologna, Ferrara, Forlì-Cesena, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Ravenna, Reggio Emilia e Rimini – have decided to import the successful model that has been experimented by FMD in Rome and in other regions for over eight years: having students teach elders the ABC of computers.
The first training workshop, whichwas held on Feb. 21 at the Istituto d'istruzione superiore Aldini Valeriani-Sirani in Bologna, was attended by institutional representatives and 23 teachers and administrators from 14 different areas.
Agostina Betta, Pane e Internet Manager, opened the meeting with a profile of the project history and the decision to widen the operation panorama with the formula proposed by FMD. Grazia Guermandi, who has coordinated Pane e Internet, illustrated the involvement of the Region, while the Director General of FMD, Mirta Michilli, presented the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, its mission and the model chosen to promote digital literacy amongst the most disadvantaged categories, those risking social and digital exclusion. Alfonso Molina, FMD Scientific Director and Professor of Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh, underlined the new challenges that attend 21st Century Education.
The training session, opened by school headmaster Salvatore Grillo, was closed by Cecilia Stajano, FMD Manager for Empowerment and the Development of Local Learning Communities, who illustrated the technical aspects and use of the programme courses and manuals. Then, came the debate …
