On March 20 at 7:30 pm, the Rome Città Educativa will inaugurate  the first Phyrtual Innovation Gym and Fab Lab, modelled on the MIT’s Center for Bits and Atoms. This is a Fondazione Mondo Digitale project developed with the support of Roma Capitale.

“The Phyrtual Innovation Gym is an original space – Roman, Italian and International – dedicated to self-awareness, creativity, enterprise and innovation at 360 degrees: technological, social and civic,” explains Alfonso Molina Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Professor of Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh. “It’s a space dedicated to team work, creative collaboration and solidarity are nurtured by community service spirit, by promoting common values and a widespread culture of innovation.”

Alfonso Molina will coordinate the original interactive presentation of the Innovation Gym with demos and simulations involving makers and Roman citizens.

The double appointment for the inauguration of the Innovation Gym and the Fab Lab will be attended by:
Valeria Baglio, President of the Roma Capitale School Commission
Alessandra Cattoi, School, Infancy, Youth and Equal Opportunity Councillor, Roma Capitale
Marta Leonori, Productivity Councillor, Roma Capitale
Giampaolo Manzella, Vice-President of the EU and International Affairs Committee for Cooperation Amongst Peoples, Lazio Region
Paolo Masini, Public Works and Suburbs Councillor, Roma Capitale

Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Professor of Technology Strategy at the University of Edinburgh
Enrico Parisio, Vice-Presi, CNA Professioni Roma
   Senator Walter Tocci

The gym employs all the most advanced teaching systems and schools are our privileged target, explains Alfonso Molina: “Once we have launched the first Phyrtual Gym we will face the challenge of creating them in schools. We will strive to stimulate the creation of teacher-student teams to work on this challenge and use crowdfunding and other resources to find the necessary resources.”

The Innovation Gym is named after the “Phyrtual” concept, the integration of the physical and virtual dimensions and the development of the Phyrtual.org Platform, the first social innovation environment based on knowledge, learning and community building. Both the concept and the platform are original concepts conceived by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
