Last year, at the beginning of the school year, we launched a call for teachers, to involve them in a project addressing innovative didactics, to promote their role as agents of pedagogic and social change. The objective is to develop courses that employ digital solutions to transform learning into a transformative and engaging experience that will drive the development of the knowledge, skills and values that are central to the Life Education Model. All the courses and modules developed must present true added value for mixed didactic methods (both proximate and at a distance).
There are 28 national groups of teachers from primary and secondary schools throughout Italy, as well as adult education centres. At present, we refer to them as the “Our School” Professors. We firmly believe that by freeing up the creativity and ingeniousness of teachers, we can drive change. Technology extends the reach and value of efficient horizontal teaching, starting from the individuals with whom we are connected and work. Value and innovation are increasingly less driven in a top-down fashion and are far more efficient if they involve vaster learning processes.
In this phase, we are obviously not referring to radical innovation, but to micro-processes that can be scaled incrementally. The teachers who are part of the network have adopted active and experiential pedagogic approaches such as inquiry-based learning, outdoor didactic activities, gamification, interactive storytelling, learning by teaching, etc.
Over the past weeks, since January, we have already presented the first 30 professors. Here is who they are and what they are working on:
