ALESSANDRA BOTTALINI
Integrating skills balance, counselling and orientation techniques, Alessandra designs and develops counselling, training and empowerment courses based on relations, groups and narration to support and promote learning and continuous re-orientation of individual and group socio-relational and transversal skills involved in professional and personal changes and transitions. Alessandra employs her skills in projects that place individuals at the centre and their fundamental need for recognition, planning and development. Her motto is “It is never too late to become what you are” (E. Block).
GIACOMO CANESCHI
Born in Grosseto in 1982, Giacomo graduated high school in 2001. Without abandoning his passion for videogames, he delved into creative writing, game design, entertainment videos and avant-garde narrative and graphic projects such as the 2.0 “The Cide.” In 2007, he ended his 3D Graphics course at the Accademia italiana videogiochi (AIV), where he then began working as a debugger, support teacher and developer. As a 3D artist and animator, he participated in the development of Evil Heroes (a game that was never released) and Galaxy wars. Giacomo is currently teaching 3D Graphics and Game Design at AIV. Since 2010, he also works as advertisement artist and page setter for Elemental Design.
ENRICO CEMPANARI
Born in Viterbo in May 1983, after having graduated from a scientific lyceum, Enrico enlisted in the Italian Army as a volunteer and pursued a military career for two and a half years. Subsequently, he enrolled to study Medicine, before moving on to videogames. After completing a graphics course at the Accademia italiana videogiochi, he continued to work in AIV as a 3D Artist on the “Evil Heroes” Project (never released) and then became a Graphics teacher. In 2013, he also completed AVI’s first illustrated book for children (“Serpo - an interactive picture book”), which is available on the AppStore. Also in 2013, AVI released the real-time strategy game “Galaxy Wars”
LEONARDO CRUCIANO
Founder of the "Leonardo Cruciano Workshop" for special effects, Leonardo is currently also the Director of the Special and Visual Effects Sector of Makinarium srl and supervises integrated special effects with various partners, including Creatures Creator and Special Make-up Artist. Continuously looking to develop new methodologies and materials, Leonardo is the author of the SFX/VFX effect integration system called "LCW's SFX INTEGRATED SYSTEMtm". He also teaches Visual Psychology, special make-up and special effects. He has taught at Cisa, Nuct, Griffith, Accademia di Belle Arti di Bari and at the Accademia mediterranea di arti visive. MAURO DEL SANTO
Mauro is specialised in Product Design and Material Technology. Since he opened his design studio in Rome in 2003, he has developed furniture, products, lighting and installations for leading design companies. His most important clients include: IED, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Comune di Roma, Italian Ministry of Defense, Israeli Ministry of Defense, Selex, Sistema Compositi, UNHCR, Danish Refugee Councl, ENI and Hertz. His projects have received international recognitions, including: a nomination for the ADI Index, selections for the Red Dot Design Award, three nominations for Maker of Merit in 2014 and 2015. Mauro has designed and coordinated events for the Rome IED University and exhibits for Promisedesign. Since 2005, he teaches design, prototyping and materials technology at IED in Rome, Sapienza University and Nairobi University.
PAOLO FRESCHI
Born in Rome in 1947 and with a degree in Philosophy, Paolo taught middle school literature for over forty years, also experimenting with the use of hypertexts and videogames. Over the past 14 years, Paolo has held a videogame creation lab for children aged 11-14 and for the last ten years has held Feuerstein Method lessons. (He is a third-level applicator). He manages the sites of two schools. Moreover, Paolo is also a painter and incisor, exhibiting until 2000. He currently manages an on-line art gallery.
LUCA FROGHERI
A web designer, maker, communicator and trainer, Luca developed Project EyeWriter Italia that allows individuals with motor disabilities to communicate via the movement of their eyes. He has been teaching Interaction Design based on the Arduino environment for three years now and collaborates with laboratories, fab labs and companies throughout Italy on the development of interactive devices. Luca believes in open source philosophy, sharing and practical hands-on teaching. “I’m a maker,” he says. “I have always been curious and tried to do whatever interested me. It’s the best way of being yourself.
ANDREA MORINI
Born in Rome in 1975, after graduating from a scientific lyceum, Andrea studied cartoon design and illustration at the Scuola Romana dei Fumetti and multimedia publishing at LoL Europe. He collaborates with various companies as a graphic artist both for print and the web. In 2002, he began teaching in various technical institutes throughout the province of Rome. In 2004, he cofounded the Accademia Italiana Videogiochi (AIV) where he has been teaching 2D and 3D Graphics for videogames for ten years. During the same period, he also supervised the creation of various technical demos and Galaxy Wars, a videogame developed at the Academy.
FELIX OSTWALD
Born in Munich (Germany) in 1992, Felix graduated from the Liceo artistico P.L. Nervi in Ravenna. A former AIV student, Felix transferred to Rome to follow his passion for videogames and discovered his talent for 3D content for gaming. Thanks to a course held at the Accademia italiana videogiochi and his strong motivation, in 2014, he became one of the Academy’s teachers and collaborated as a 3D artist on the development of the on-line strategy game, Galaxy Wars.
NICOLA SGANGA
Nicola is an architect, but has always been involved in movies. For the last ten years, he has worked in post-production: first as a 3D artist and then as a visual effects supervisor. Having worked on over 50 films, Nicola is currently a supervisor at Vision Digital and teaches at Animatika, which he also founded, and manages the special and visual effects sectors at Makinarium srl. Since 2010, Nicola is also a Professor at the Valle Giulia Faculty of Architecture and has taught a Masters at INARCH-Istituto Nazionale di Architettura, as well as a Masters at Farm, for three years. His most recent work experience includes: Tale of Tales, Il ragazzo invisibile and L’esorcista – La genesi. EMANUELE TARDUCCI
Emanuele is an architect and interaction designer. He lives and works in Rome. He is an expert in electronic technology applied to design and installations and a Professor at various universities and design schools in Italy. He also is the didactic coordinator and teaches Web&Interaction courses at the Istituto Quasar – Design University di Roma. He has received recognition from various international design competitions and presented his research on Information Technology on various occasions. LUIGI VIAPIANO
Luigi is an architect specialised in applying technology to architecture and urban environments. His main activities are related to architectural blueprinting and contemporary artistic activities, including group and individual exhibitions. Luigi organises seminars, conferences, exhibitions and various types of movie installations. He has collaborated as a tutor in workshops and courses organised by the Faculty of Architecture at the University Roma Tre and has also collaborated on developing the graphics for the publication of architectural texts. In 2010, together with Nicola Sganga, Luigi founded Animatika. He received his most recent award this year from the Ministry of Education, University and Research and the Centro Studi Paolo Borsellino for “That fresh perfume of liberty” - Cup Song della Pace – direction, filming, editing. DOMENICO ZUNGRI
Domenico is an immersive designer specialised in creating simulations and immersive experiences for educational, ludic and professional applications. He earned a Master in “Digital Entertainment” at the Turin ‘Virtual Reality & Multimedia Park’ and specialised in “Theme Park and Attraction Design” with Steve Alcorn, CEO di AlcornMcBride Inc. He has worked as a Game/Narrative Designer at Milestone in Milan and received an award from the “International Social Innovation Competition”. Nicola has also participated in ‘TEDx’ as a speaker and is a member of the Salento AVR” Scientific Committee, the first Italian Conference on Virtual Reality. His essay ‘Embracing Immersive Learning’ is about to be published by the Università di Bologna, and will be presented at the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino.
