Educational robotics allows students to integrate various academic disciplines in a single activity that also has practical results, like participating in the selections for the Robotics World Championship in Istanbul (5-11 July 2011).

Prof. Paolo Torda, a teacher at the J. Von Neumann School who also helps with the organizational support for the competitions amongst schools and referees the Soccer Light Weight and Soccer Open League categories, has been involved in robotic activities at his school for years and knows a lot about their educational and multi-disciplinary aspects.
This extraordinary long-term commitment is demonstrated by the fact that 15 student teams, in collaboration with Itis G. Galilei, will participate in the 5th edition of the International City of Rome Robotics Trophy competing in a series of categories (Explorer Junior, Soccer Light Weight e Soccer Open League).

Alessio Neri asked Prof. Torda about the true didactic and educational value of Robotics.

”A student learning mathematic concepts,” explains Paolo Torda, “will often not know how to apply them in the field of electronics. Robotics unites different competences to make something concrete and tangible that shows to students that what they study has a true value.”
