Yet another success for the Research Award winner from Siena.

At the beginning of August, daily La Nazione wrote about thirty-year-old Mihai Dragusanu, a researcher at the University of Siena, who won the second edition of the Research Award. His modular exoskeleton tracksuit for upper limbs is one of the finalist projects at the Bcc Innovation Festival, where the Bcc Iccrea Group transforms innovative ideas into business. The technical-scientific committee, composed by 19 key figures from finance, law, and university, strategic counselling and cooperative credit, has selected the “Champions” – from ca. 400 applications – that will participate in the “Road to Festival,” which will end with the Festival Day following the summer break.

“Tggold aims to create a modular exoskeleton tracksuit for upper limbs, overcoming control and design challenges,” writes journalist Monica Pieraccini on the daily.  “Exoskeletons and exoskeleton gloves for upper limbs have been the object of many studies, but the results are often bulky and difficult to use for final users. The challenge was to design a light exoskeleton providing dexterity and adequate adaptability. The innovative project is based on the use of Twisted-String-Actuators to activate the joints of the upper limbs. Moreover, this model provides various advantages, including advanced comfort, an optimal weight/power ratio, contained costs, a high precision for movements, and reduced fatigue from prolonged use.”

Best of luck to Mihai for his new adventure!
