Simultaneous Translation at RomeCup 2024
The proceedings of the first day of the RomeCup 2024 (March 20) will be followed by international expert Ross Donald King, Professor of Machine Intelligence at Chalmers University of Technology. In particular, the scientist, creator of the Robot Scientist, will participate in the session dedicated to "The Challenges of Holistic Sustainability."
To help King follow the event, as he does not understand Italian, he will be assisted by a particular expert, a sort of whisperer. His shadow will be Giovanni Ranieri, 24, who holds a degree from the International University of Rome (UNINT) and is specialized in chuchotage (from the French verb chuchoter meaning "to whisper"), a simultaneous translation without technological support. Given the high technical content of the various presentations, Giovanni will act as a robot whisperer, describing what happens in the various areas at Tor Vergata University, from the races between automatons to the showcase area with AI prototypes.
For the chuchotage solution, we must thank Maria Rosaria Creton, conference interpreter, translator, and professor at UNINT.
