On May 25, 2012, an event will be held in Piazza San Silvestro, Rome, to raise awareness and recall the government’s attention on children. The initiative is promoted by Save the Children and will be held in 13 cities. The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will be present with 60 protagonists of the Grandparents on the Internet Project.
All participants will bring a photo of them as children to attach to a huge billboard that will witness their participation in Remember the Children. The event will include three children that will impersonate the Italian Prime Minister Monti and two other important ministers. A viral video will show a conference of Prime Minister Monti with a child speaking, Monti himself as a child, saying "Mario, remember when you were my age?" to underline the importance of childhood. ”How many hopes and dreams you had! Today, many children run the risk of never fulfilling their dreams. One child out of four risks poverty. Remember Childhood, Mario.”
The site www.ricordiamocidellinfanzia.it includes the campaign manifesto and the request by Save the Children, an appeal to Prime Minister Mario Monti, who can join with a photo of his own and make a declaration on the theme of childhood.
Piazza San Silvestro will be overtaken by 800 children and with the help of a street artist they will paint and write slogans dedicated to the “World that I’d Like.” The morning will also be an occasion for three different generations to come together and provide their solutions for the present and future of our country. The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is always active on these issues, especially via its cooperation amongst schools and services such as that promoted at the Città Educativa in Rome in collaboration with the Rome Council School Deparment.
