“Digital tools can generate extraordinary opportunities for the growth of Italy, and it is indispensable for our youth, especially those in the most difficult contexts, to help them imagine a future of opportunity thanks to technology. We are proud to support this important project together with the Fondazione Francesca Rava for the Beccaria Youth Detention Centre, through the construction of a digital laboratory that will be managed by our volunteers and with educational support from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, to create a space for the young detainees to learn and experiment. This is an ecosystem project that brings together the public and private spheres with the third sector to contribute jointly to face the hardest challenges. I would like to thank the many Microsoft volunteers who, for many months, have been helping the detainees with the activities and fully embodying our mission: helping people and doing more with digital tools.”

This is the message released by Silvia Candiani, CEO, Microsoft Italia, upon the visit of the Italian Justice Minister Marta Cartabia to the Beccaria Juvenile Detention Centre in Milan.

Last Monday, Minister Cartabia visited the Beccaria Juvenile Detention Centre to learn more about the activities organised by Project "Palla al Centro," promoted by the Fondazione Francesca Rava to drive the social reinsertion of juvenile detainees by creating a bridge between “inside” and “outside.” In synergy with authorities, companies, universities and volunteers.
