iProfs and iTutors

“Nomina sunt consequentia rerum”.  Names are based on activities.

We are not inventing a new category of individuals, rather we would just like to recognize with a simple, but effective name, those who are committed to innovation, inclusion and intergenerational exchange.

iProfs and iTutors are expressions that characterize the protagonists of the Grandparents on the Internet Model, the teachers and tutors that have been promoting digital literacy amongst the categories at risk of social and digital exclusion, such as elders.

The students refer to their teachers as iProfs. And this makes sense. They are the teachers who have transformed innovation into an inclusive practice based on intergenerational exchange. Thus, “Nomina sunt consequentia rerum”. They are innovating teachers in a unique way.

And right besides these teachers are a new generation of students who are increasingly aware of the needs of others. They are committed and volunteer to provide others with their knowledge. They are the iTutors that help elders to understand the full meaning of the challenge launched by Gandhi: “Learn as if you were to live forever”.

Over the coming months, we will meet them one by one and witness their faces, their voices and their stories, staring with Project “Grandparents On-line. All Young at the Post Office.”
