Hello Grandparents!

Hello Grandparents!

On October 1, elders worldwide celebrate the International Day of Older Persons, an event that has been celebrated since 1990 by the United Nations. The focus of the 24th edition is Leaving No One Behind: Promoting a Society for All.

In developed countries, by 2050, there will be twice as many elders as children; while in developing countries, there number is expected to double. Overlooking elders is tantamount to ignoring 20% of the world population by 2030 (1.2 billion people), by which time there will be more over-sixties than children.

The main objective of the International Day of Older Persons is to promote inclusion, even calling attention on the many different ways of facing ageing.

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which has worked for years on promoting the digital literacy of seniors, has reserved a special interventional area for active ageing and inter-generational solidarity.

A very special wish to all the Grandparents on the Internet!
