A formative volunteering experience to discover the value of inclusion and mental health
As part of its volunteering activities for Roman schools, Progetto Itaca is pleased to offer a training opportunity for ten students, to learn more about the role of associations in supporting people with mental illness.
The initiative is part of the activities of Fattore J, a project promoted with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, which aims to develop empathy, awareness and social responsibility in young people through educational programmes on health and well-being.
Training programme
The experience includes a training programme divided into two phases:
- Online training session organised by the association (date to be defined)
- Face-to-face experience at the headquarters in via Nomentana 512 (20 and 21 May, 9.30am-3.30pm)
During the days, students have the opportunity to experience the ‘typical day’ of a member of the Club Itaca, i.e. a patient with mental illness who, if deemed suitable, participates in recreational activities and work-related activities promoted by the association.
The first day starts with a welcome and a shared breakfast: the students are assigned roles based on the activities available at the centre. The tasks include gardening, kitchen duties, art and music workshops and other recreational and social activities.
Recognition Pcto
For students who take part in the initiative, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale ETS can recognise a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 15 hours for the activities included in the Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation (Pcto), based on the number of hours actually completed.
How to apply
Interested students can apply independently by filling in the online form.
