Fattore J, the school ‘on the way out’ between volunteering and active citizenship
An entire school community mobilised for an important cause. As part of the ‘AIL 2025 Easter Eggs’ campaign, students from the Galilei-Sani secondary school in Latina actively participated in the fundraising promoted by the local branch of the Italian Association Against Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (AIL). The volunteering experience was included among the activities of the Fattore J project carried out with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine [see the news item Students from Latina in action with Ail].
Thanks to the commitment and generosity of the young volunteers, it was possible to provide concrete support to the haematology department of the Santa Maria Goretti hospital in Latina: the proceeds from the initiative will be used to purchase new hospital beds, improving the care and recovery conditions for patients.
The president of Ail Latina Paolo Forzan expressed his gratitude by sending an official letter. Special thanks go to the head teacher Marina Palumbo, who encouraged the synergy between the school, volunteers and the local area, to the teachers who accompanied the students on this journey of active citizenship, and of course to the students themselves, who were able to transform their enthusiasm and energy into concrete help for those who face the difficult battle against blood diseases every day.
‘This experience’, emphasises AIL Latina, “represents for us a virtuous example of educational and social alliance, in which institutions, companies and citizens collaborate for the common good. It is a sign of trust in the new generations and in the school, a fundamental place for cultivating responsibility, awareness and humanity”.
The Fattore J project thus continues to generate authentic educational experiences, capable of sensitising young people to the themes of health, solidarity and civic commitment.
