Tomorrow, Friday, November 26, from 9 to 12, we will be at the Istituto Comprensivo Melissa Bassi in Roma, managed by Alessandra Scamardella, to host a laboratory on words with Coach Nicoletta Vulpetti.

For Project Social Hosting Hub, together with students at the first-degree secondary school, we will focus on the importance of words used in the “on-life” dimension, learning about the distinctive characteristics of on-line hate and ways to contrast it by carefully choosing our words.

The school, in the Tor Bella Monaca Neighbourhood (Municipio VI), operates in an area “characterised by a strong lack of recreational and cultural services and infrastructure   … Those who aim to drive cultural and social growth find no adequate answers. Thus, many families turn to the school for activities aimed at enriching the language and culture of their children. Indeed, it is the only cultural hub with spaces and opportunities for students to aggregate and grow, along with their families” (from the school’s PTOF). The area also has a library and a theatre.

Nicoletta Vulpetti

"I have always worked with communications. After receiving a degree in Communications from Sapienza University and a Masters in Intercultural Communication and having taken various other courses in this field that is constantly evolving, just like society, I worked for one of the largest public relations agencies worldwide (Hill+Knowlton Strategies), where I was responsible for content management and the strategy, scheduling and creation of content to narrate the identity of companies, institutions and organisations. After 16 years, I decided to leave the agency an provide my communications skills, curiosity and need to network to people, organisations and visions. Thus, in my new professional life, I have given a wide berth to education, both proximate and on-line, thanks to my collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Together, we have conceived and brought to virtual and real classrooms projects on aware and responsible digital citizenship.”

Project Social Hosting Hub is one of the winners of the Google.org Impact Challenge on Security, a fund that helps non-profit organisations developing practical and real solutions to contrast hate and extremism, and to help children be safe on- and off-line. The objective of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and partner organisations Action AidComunità di Sant'Egidio and Parole O_Stili, is to create and coordinate the first phyrtual (physical and virtual) ecosystem made of connections, relations and communities.
