Future Classroom

As part of Programme Meet No Neet, students in class 4I at IIS G. Marconi in Catania designed Smart Class, the classroom of the future. They presented their project to companies via a pitch held at the Discovering Talents Fair (Peschiera Borromeo, 5 Feb. 2015) and have now started a crowdfunding campaign on Phyrtual.org to promote their environmentally friendly work-study project.

The Presentation
Students from IIS Marconi in Catania pitched their "Smart class" project to companies at the Discovering Talents Fair (Peschiera Borromeo, 5 Feb. 2015). The elevator pitch is a particular form of communication based on synthesis and efficiency that takes the time of a trip in the lift.

The Project
It’s the classroom we all wish we had, a classroom of the future.

It respects the environment, is energetically independent and technologically innovative. Here are a few examples: every desk includes records student presence; the dynamic pavement produces 8 watts of energy for every step to reduce the costs of electricity; the roof is covered by photovoltaic panels; the walls are equipped with polychromatic illumination and ventilation systems that are activated after gym class; an musical system eases concentration. And who cleans the classroom? A robot!

The Crowdfunding Campaign
The young designers require €3000 to develop a prototype of their project that can be used at fairs and exhibitions to publicise the project. Moreover, the aim is also to promote project meta-didactic activity. Click here to promote the project.

The Event

The Discovering Talents Fair project was the final event of the 2014 edition of Project Meet no Neet, which involved 10 thousand young Italians aged 16-24 and aims to provide them with innovative tools and competences to access the 21st Century working world through a process of total innovation: from experiential education to project management via self-enterprise. The project is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Microsoft as part of the global YouthSpark Programme.
