Italgas and youth address the energy transition

Italy ranks first in terms of youth who are considered digitally sustainable, young individuals who use digital tools and adopt sustainable behaviour, followed by Spain, Poland, Germany and France. Young men and women view digitalization as a “driver of sustainability-oriented behaviour.” And especially women with higher education degrees reveal the greatest sensitivity to digital sustainability. In Italy, the majority of youth (69%) agrees that technology has contributed positively to the improvement of society, promoting economic development and environmental protection, as results from the “DiSi Young – Digital Sustainability for Youth” Report produced by Ey Foundation and the Fondazione per la Sostenibilità Digitale that interviewed 800 young men and women aged 16-24 in the five European countries.

However, 27% of interviewees stated that they knew little or nothing about the concept of sustainability, a percentage that rises to 38% for knowledge about the UN Agenda 2030. However, in all five countries, seven out of ten interviewees declared they wished to learn more about the issue.

People Power, the Talent Tour with Italgas on digital transformation and environmental sustainability, will actively seek to make youth the protagonists of digital transformation, also as ambassadors. The objective is to provide local opportunities by attracting talent and pursuing the education of youth, improving both their digital and soft skills. It will begin with a strategic company plan, which amongst various other objectives, aims to drive digital transformation to provide the country with an infrastructure to host and distribute renewable gasses such as biomethane and green hydrogen.

Today, June 15, the first session in Rome will welcome 20 students and STEM graduates the opportunity to test this format with us and become People Power Ambassadors. The tour winners (five cities in Italy and Greece) will enjoy a six-month curricular and extracurricular internship organized by Italgas (based on individual profiles).

Italgas is one of the two Italian companies that Newsweek includes amongst the 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces. The ranking addresses various elements concerning employee satisfaction and opinion, including respect, collaboration, support, loyalty and CEO leadership. Italgas ranks 75th, while Amplifon is 83rd.
