Digital Made at the Maker Faire

The ninth edition of the Rome Maker Faire (Oct. 8-10) returns with a live, proximate edition, but there will still be a strong on-line component, too. The Fab Lab Innovation Gym will be present “on site” at the new location – the Gazometro Ostiense – to present Project Digital Made (Life Area, Pavillion J, Stand 15].

The protagonists of the Maker Faire are 25 projects that were selected at the third edition of the "Digital Made, for Young Fashion Talents" Contest, promoted in collaboration with the PowWow Fashion Tech Week.

Clothes and fashion accessories will be presented and explained by their designers, while experts from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will hold live DIY sessions on wearable technology, natural dyes and 3D printing of textiles. The exhibition will showcase various examples produced through 3D printing and laser cutting to introduce the public to a new way of thinking and producing with the aid of digital manufacturing.

With Project “Digital Made,” the Fondazione Mondo Digitale aims to drive the digital transformation of the fashion sector with a twofold objective: delineate new professional profiles and educate to beauty through technology. Indeed, beauty should not be a luxury, but a common good, one that is accessible to everyone, ethical and sustainable.

On Saturday, Oct. 9, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale stand will welcome the Fab Lab Frosinone and the Naples Accademia di Belle Arti. Students, teachers, and makers will present their projects and share the experience of the Digital Made Contest.
